Fantastic Food and Hospitality at Ironbark Bistro & Tavern Ironbark Bistro & Tavern in Chiltern is an absolute gem! The owners are incredibly welcoming and clearly passionate about their historic venue on Conness Street. They were more than happy to share fascinating stories about the place and offer great recommendations for things to explore in the area. The food here is simply outstanding. The BBQ pork ribs truly live up to their reputation—tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired with crispy potato fries and a fresh salad. The portion size options (regular or light meals) are a thoughtful touch, catering to all appetites. Whether you’re stopping by for a meal or just soaking in the charm of this characteristic spot, Ironbark Bistro & Tavern is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
This place is amazing decor is beautiful food was absolutely fabulous my partner and I had light meals, he had the BBQ ribs they tasted delicious fall off the bone perfection, I had chicken schnitzel with gravy it too was amazing. Our grown kids had the mains BBQ ribs, the other had the spag bol and they loved every bite this place is great. The staff are friendly and kind we travelled from Qld they made us feel comfortable and welcome. You guys deserve a pat on the back you have done an amazing job.
A wonderful country town pub full of character and friendly staff. There is a good choice of drinks here, plus a fab menu that is either traditional Australian cuisine or Thai (phone ahead to see what's being served). My visit yielded an awesome Thai dining experience that was authentic and produced food full of robust flavours, great textures and pleasing colours; and definitely on par with other Thai restaurants I've dined at. This wasn't an interpretation, the meal I had was a very tasty iteration of Thai food. Portion sizes were on the generous side and table service was quick. The food was well priced too. Don't ignore this little gem of an eatery if you're in the area, it is so worth your time.
I do not normally take photos of food, but this totally warranted it. My hubby & I thought we treat ourselves to dinner out after a long day on the road, we always like to pop into the local when we do. We were not expecting the A1 quality class meals served to us ( dont get me wrong, you always get a good feed at the local) BUT this was way beyond. Top notch, would knock the socks of a lot of fancy restaurants, that's for sure. So after that little long winded rave I had the Surf/ Turf Rib eye. Steak cooked to perfection meduim. So tender cut with a normal knife. Expecting only pawns as the topping and nice creamy garlic sauce which is the norm but to my amazement received mouth watering calamari cooked 2 ways with healthy serving prawns and to die for garlic sauce. Everything on the plate was yummo.Meal Serving - lets say you needed a good appetite to eat it all. Hubby had Rib eye with mushroom gravy. Again steak cooked to perfection. Chips to die for, the best. To top the night off great live music, great atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting to enjoy this absolute gem of pub. Publican was a great as well. Hats off to his wife who cooked our A1 class meals. Apologies we started eating before I thought to take a photo to share . We will definitely be back. Highly recommend Plus extra bonus our fur baby was welcomed.
We arrived on a Wednesday evening and were delighted to enjoy the Thai menu. My partner knew the pub offered Thai on certain nights. The meals were authentic and cooked perfectly. We had the beef with Thai basil and vegetables and a veggie jungle curry. Delicious! The publican was fantastic and has a great cellar of Rutherglen vino. He also provided some excellent insights into some of the speciality wines the local wineries have. We’ll come back - love Chiltern. We visited the pub the next day too and they have a lovely beer garden section.
Great service Great idea to have the option of small meals and still very generous and filling. I have the BBQ pork ribs with chip's and salad and was perfect for me The meat was cooked at perfection falling out of the bone with out a knife chip's are thick cut and crunchy even the salad had a nice condiment with sun dry tomatoes and Olives.
Carmen and Steve have done a remarkable job servicing the small rural community of Chiltern. Now on a new adventure of quality “Fish Chips n Burgers” as a wonderful takeaway option for everyone near and far!
